Nature of the service
DropDr is a technology platform. It helps people discover, compare and connect with independent healthcare professionals, pharmacies and laboratories, and supports the coordination of appointments, payments and related documents.
Drop Doctor (Pty) Ltd does not provide medical care, does not employ the healthcare professionals listed on the platform, and does not sell or dispense medicine.
- The contract for care is between the patient and the treating professional.
- The contract for medicine is between the patient and the dispensing pharmacy.
- Clinical decisions are made by the treating professional.
Professional responsibility
Healthcare professionals participating on DropDr practise in their own name, under their own professional registration, within their own scope of practice. They set their own consultation prices and their own availability.
They remain responsible for their clinical decisions and for compliance with the rules of their registering body, including the Health Professions Council of South Africa, the South African Nursing Council and the South African Pharmacy Council as applicable.

Prices and fees
Consultation and service prices are set and published by each healthcare professional and are shown before a booking is confirmed.
The applicable total is shown before payment is confirmed. Commercial arrangements with healthcare professionals are governed by the participation terms presented during onboarding and must comply with the rules applicable to the professional.
Payment for medicine is made to the dispensing pharmacy. DropDr does not trade in medicine, as only a pharmacy registered under the Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974 may lawfully do so.
Payment, refunds and security
Payments are processed through a registered payment provider. Card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by DropDr.
For home visits, funds are held and released to the professional once both the patient and the professional confirm the service was delivered. Where a service is not delivered, a credit or refund may be issued in accordance with the terms presented at the time of booking.
Cooling-off period
Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives consumers a right to cancel certain electronic transactions within seven days without reason.
Section 42 excludes services that have begun with the consumer's consent, and goods likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly. A consultation that has commenced and medicine that has been dispensed fall outside the cooling-off right. This is disclosed again at the point of purchase.
Data protection
Personal information is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Health information is special personal information and is handled inside the secure DropDr application rather than through this website.

Complaints and dispute resolution
Complaints about the platform — availability, payments, bookings, account matters or conduct on the platform — may be sent to info@drop-dr.com and are acknowledged in the ordinary course of business.
Complaints about the clinical conduct of a registered healthcare professional may also be directed to that professional's registering body. DropDr does not adjudicate clinical practice.
Complaints relating to the dispensing of medicine may be directed to the pharmacy concerned and to the South African Pharmacy Council.
Complaints about the handling of personal information may be directed to our Information Officer and, if unresolved, to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

DropDr is not an emergency service and does not replace emergency medical care. In an emergency, contact your local emergency provider immediately. See emergency information.
Governing law
