How an instant consultation runs
Five steps, most of them taking seconds.
See who is online
Browse doctors currently accepting instant consultations, filtered by specialty and language.
Check the profile
Category, registration, languages and the consultation fee — all before you commit.
Pay to open the session
Payment confirms the consultation and opens your session window.
Consult
Connect by video, audio or chat. Either side can reconnect inside the session window.
Continue
Receive a prescription, certificate or referral where the doctor judges it appropriate.
When an instant consultation works well.
- A new symptom you want assessed quickly
- A repeat or follow-up on something already diagnosed
- Questions about medicine you have been prescribed
- A second opinion before committing to something
- Advice on whether you need to be seen in person
- A medical certificate where clinically justified
When you should be seen physically.
- Anything needing hands-on examination
- Injuries that may need imaging or stitches
- Symptoms that are severe, sudden or worsening fast
- Procedures, dressings or injections — book a home visit instead
- Anything you would describe as an emergency
Prepare in two minutes
Doctors work with what you give them. A little preparation makes a short consultation far more useful.
Write down your symptoms
What it is, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried.
List your medicines
Everything you take, including over-the-counter medicine and supplements. Doses if you know them.
Gather previous results
Recent test results, scans or a previous prescription for the same problem.
Find a quiet, private spot
Somewhere you can speak freely and be heard. Headphones help more than you would think.
Check your connection
A stable signal matters more than a fast one. Wi-Fi beats mobile data where you have the choice.
Have your questions ready
Write down what you most want answered so the consultation does not end before you ask it.
How quickly can I speak to a doctor?
You choose from the doctors showing as available at that moment, so there is no queue to join and no callback to wait for. Once payment is complete the session window opens and you can connect straight away.
What if the call drops?
The paid session stays open for a set window, and either side can reconnect within it. The doctor can also call you back. If the connection will not hold, the chat stays open so the consultation can be closed off properly.
Can I message the doctor afterwards?
Yes, for a limited period after the consultation ends, so you can clarify instructions or ask a follow-up about what was discussed. After that window the chat locks and a new consultation is needed — which keeps the service fair to the doctor too.
Is an instant consultation right for everything?
No. It suits new symptoms, advice, prescription questions and follow-ups. It does not suit anything requiring a physical examination or urgent intervention. The doctor will tell you if you need to be seen in person, and DropDr is never a substitute for emergency care.
Do I pay before or after?
Before. Payment confirms the session and opens the consultation window. The price is the applicable price shown before you confirm.
