Healthcare access as a benefit that gets used.
Most benefits fail on friction. A consultation an employee can complete from home, from a site office or between shifts is one they will actually take — and a health issue dealt with early costs everyone less.
Why organisations look at this
Not wellness theatre — the practical effects of removing friction between a sick employee and a professional.
Less time lost
A twenty-minute online consultation replaces half a day of travel and waiting.
Earlier intervention
People consult sooner when it is easy, and early problems are cheaper problems.
Coverage for the uncovered
Meaningful access for staff who have no medical aid at all.
Works for shift patterns
Consultations outside standard practice hours suit people whose hours are not standard.
Mental health support
Confidential access, without anyone having to declare anything to a manager.
Mental healthcareAnonymous reporting
Utilisation patterns without clinical detail, so you can see value without seeing people.
You fund access. You never see the consultation.
Employee trust is the whole basis of a health benefit. If staff suspect their employer can see what they consulted about, they will not use it.
- Employers see utilisation, never clinical information
- Employees choose their own professional, as any patient does
- Consultations are subject to normal professional confidentiality
- Health data remains special personal information under POPIA
- Reporting is aggregated and anonymised
Do employees have to use a specific doctor?
No. Employees keep the same choice any other patient has. An employer arrangement changes who pays, not who the employee is allowed to consult.
Will we see employee medical information?
No. Employers never see clinical information. That is a legal boundary as much as an ethical one, and DropDr is structured so the question does not arise.
How is it billed?
Arrangements are agreed with your organisation — typically consolidated billing against agreed limits. Contact the team to discuss what fits your structure and headcount.
Does this replace medical aid?
No. DropDr provides access to consultations and connected services. It is not a medical scheme and does not provide cover. Many organisations use it alongside existing benefits, particularly for staff who have none.
Can it work for shift and field workers?
That is often where it helps most. A consultation that does not require travelling to a practice during business hours suits people whose hours do not match a practice's.
